ELIDA FABERGE WINS FACTORY OF THE YEAR AWARD
26 October 2000

Leeds-based manufacturer Elida Fabergé has won this year's prestigious Management Today Factory of the Year Award. The awards, now in their ninth year, were held at a special lunch in London today (26 October). The winner beat over 150 competitors to scoop the coveted prize, in addition to the title of the Best Household and General Products Factory.

This prestigious annual event was devised in 1991 to encourage and promote manufacturing excellence in the UK, against growing international competition. Each factory competing for an award is subjected to the most rigorous audit and assessment by a high-calibre team of judges, drawn from Cranfield School of Management, the Department of Trade and Industry and Management Today. The judges inspect each plant and meet both management and workforce on site. Six key areas are assessed: lead times, flexibility, efficiency, productivity, inventory control and delivery.

Commenting on this year's result, Rufus Olins, editor-in-chief of Management Today says:
'Elida Fabergé's factory is a wonderful example of the best of British manufacturing. It sets itself extremely high standards and consistently meets them.'
